MATERNITY PHOTOGRAPHY
There is nothing more inspiring and beautiful than an expectant mother. Uncomfortable, but beautiful! We love sharing this time with our clients, capturing the love between our couples and their hopes and dreams for the future.
Maternity sessions are booked between weeks 32 and 35 if at all possible. This is when our moms look and feel their best. The shoot is up to an hour long with two wardrobe changes. The cost is $135.00 for the session fee which is due at the time of scheduling, and in addition to your session fee, there is also a minimum order requirement of $100 for prints + products, which are purchased separately. Professional hair and makeup styling in our in house salon can be added onto your session for a small fee. With swollen feet and frequent potty breaks, sometimes it’s nice to just sit down, relax and be pampered!

MATERNITY Q&A
What do I wear?
Something that makes you feel pretty. If you like a form fitting outfit to show off your baby bump that’s great! If you like something more flowing, that works too. Long maxi dresses are lovely and have a very timeless look. Prints are okay, but stay away from small stripes and plaids. (Florals make us swoon!) If you would like help choosing your wardrobe we can work with you too, or you can check our our Maternity Styling board on pinterest. (www.pinterest.com/monroecophoto)
I don’t feel pretty, what can I do?
We’ve been pregnant before too, trust us, we feel your pain! Jess’s job is to photograph you at the most flattering angles, in the most flattering poses. Wardrobe can help as well. If you’re getting to 32 weeks and feel the pregger swollen face syndrome taking over, give us a call and we would be happy to move your session up a bit. Also, trust us. You’re beautiful, even if you don’t feel like it right now.
Does my partner come to the shoot?
That is completely up to you and them. We LOVE having you both there, but we also love to photograph women alone, their strength and love for their unborn little peanut. Should you both come, be sure to coordinate your outfits.
Can our children be included in the maternity session?
Definitely! Cute pictures of big brothers and sisters awaiting baby are so much fun. (Not to mention adorable!)
Can I include my maternity session in the Milestones Package?
Yes! It can be part of the milestones and it’s a great way to begin documenting your child’s life and your relationship with him or her.

NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY
Newborn photography is becoming a house hold term. At monroe+co we specialize in timeless and natural newborn photography. We do not put your babies in uncomfortable poses, or combine images to create a pose your baby cannot naturally do. Our props are very classic, and simple in order to create images that will be ‘in style’ and hopefully up on your walls for a life time. Our studio is set up for the comfort of our new mothers and babies, with comfy places to lounge, beverages, snacks, a changing table, a bath tub (blow outs happen!) and lots of supplies for baby’s needs.
Your newborn’s shoot is centered around baby, but also includes images of mom, dad and siblings if that is what you would like. We offer the lovely option of professional hair and makeup application for mom at our in house salon as well for a small additional charge. We set aside up to three hours for a newborn shoot in order to have the time to get baby to sleep and capture those pouty lips, squishy faces, and dreamy smiles.
The cost of our Newborn shoot is $175.00 for the session fee which is due at the time of scheduling, and in addition to your session fee, $100 is also paid at that time and goes towards your print + product order. For those moms that can’t handle how fast their babies grow up, we also offer a Milestones Collection for the first year of life, which includes discounted sessions and free goodies! You can read more information on our Milestone Collection below.

NEWBORN Q&A
What should I do to prepare for the session?
Try to wait to feed baby until you arrive at the studio, or if you must, right before you come. We like them to be full and satisfied so they will go to sleep once they get here. Put baby in an easy to remove outfit because typically we photograph them naked or wrapped.
What do I need to bring?
If you have a favorite blanket or prop that you really want in a picture, please bring that along. There is no guarantee we will use them depending on how they will photograph, but it’s great to have options and we do what we can to make meaningful items work. We have private areas where new moms can breastfeed, but you can also bring pumped milk. We have a full kitchen and hot water, so warming bottles is a breeze. If you are not breastfeeding, please bring formula with you. We try to keep baby full, and may ask you to feed them multiple times over the period of the shoot. If you all want to have their pictures taken with baby, bring clothing for you also (neutrals work well).
Can my older kids come to the shoot?
Absolutely! If you'd like photos with your newborn with other siblings, we suggest that they be brought by another adult for photos, then taken back home or someplace fun to play after their portion of the shoot is over. This way we can focus on baby with the distraction (and noise) of older siblings.
Does monroe+co supply outfits & props to use?
Yes, definitely. We have wraps, blankets, head bands, little knitted pants and jumpers, bowls and buckets. You don’t need to bring a thing if you don’t want to. We will arrange up to four sets for you to take a look at, and can plan for certain colors if you have something specific in mind.
What happens if baby doesn’t cooperate?
We will try our best to help baby relax and hopefully sleep. If things just don’t go as we had hoped, then we will re-schedule you for another day and try again. We understand that baby doesn’t always feel like having their picture taken.
How old should baby be for the newborn session?
We like to schedule our newborns before they are 10 days old. We schedule your newborn session for that first week after baby’s due date. If baby decides to come early or late, we can adjust your session date accordingly.
When should I schedule my baby's newborn session?
As soon as you have a due date. We only take four newborns a month, so the sooner you schedule, the more likely you'll get in with us.
What happens if baby wets or poops during the session?
Poop happens. :) It’s OK. It happens a lot. We just change the set and move on.
Do you do lifestyle (at home) newborn sessions?
Yes, we do. We need to know that you would like to do that when you schedule. Those shoots focus more on the family, the home setting and baby in their nursery, they do not include in-studio posed images. You can add an in-studio mini shoot (2 sets) for an additional fee.

MILESTONE Q&A
What sessions are typically done?
Maternity, Newborn, 3 Month, 6 Month, 9 Month and 1 Year are our typical Milestone shoots. Occasionally we will do Newborn, 4 Month, 8 Month and 1 Year. This is also a nice grouping of images for your Collection.
Are all the sessions done at the studio?
No, not usually. We do the newborn in studio, and often a 3 month, but the 6 month, 9 month and year we are more than happy to schedule outside. It’s fun to have different settings and lighting for the different sessions.
What should I dress them in?
Newborns are covered in our newborn session information above. It is the same session, just packaged under the Milestones. For the other sessions you get up to three outfits per shoot. We can help you choose them if you like, or you can send us photos of the clothing you are planning to use. That can help us provide the correct set, and pick a location that works with your style. We also have lots of child styling options that we LOVE on our pinterest board. (www.pinterest.com/monroecophoto)
Can we bring props?
Absolutely, but we recommend keeping those props very ‘classic’ and timeless. OR, have it match the clothing your child is in. If you’re brining an old wooden train, that looks cute with many different looks, but if you’re bringing a spiderman figure, we better be photographing a miniature spiderman or the toy will just look tacky and out of place.
Can siblings or mom and dad get in the pictures?
Yes, but only one pose, one outfit. This collection is about baby, so we like to focus these shoots on him/her. We prefer you don’t do sibling/family shots at every shoot, but newborn or one year are pretty common.
How can I help baby be happy for their shoot?
Be sure they have had enough sleep, and have a full tummy. Bring a favorite treat and/or a favorite toy as well. Typically if they’re full and rested, they’re happy to smile for the camera. :)
