Shooting with Jenna + Kyle was a breath of fresh air. I had just returned from a workshop in Tennessee where we learned mostly about relationships and documenting real connections. This is something I've always tried to do with my work, but I had an extra kick of inspiration after being surrounded with over 100 like-minded artists for almost a week. So when we began Jenna + Kyle's shoot, we started with selecting wardrobe that fit 'them' best. We always encourage our couples to select two outfits, but rarely had we discussed making sure they are a reflection of their personal style... I suppose I assumed this was a given. Now I'm seeing it's important for me to give that kind of direction, and to let our couples know that their engagement session is more than just 'pretty pictures' for their mom's to brag about how beautiful they are. (Although, they are that too!) Your engagement photos should reflect who you are, both as individuals and as a couple. I want your friends to look at your photos and think "Oh my gosh, that's SO them." I want you to look at them and see the quirky things your love does, like how his eyes close when he laughs hard, or how she cries when you tell her she's everything to you. I want you to look back at your engagement photos and feel all the love you felt on that day, in that moment. Marriage is hard, and some days, you might forget what it felt like to be young and in love. These images should always remind you. Please continue to watch my journey toward pushing my boundaries photographing human connection and documenting real life and real love. <3 engagement photos, engagement pics, cedar rapids photographer, photography, iowa photographer, iowa photography, wedding photography, wedding photographer, iowa wedding photographer, iowa wedding photography, palisades park, love, monroe+co, engaged, engagement

Few things make me happier in my photography career than getting the opportunity to watch and document the lives of my clients. I love that I often meet clients as engaged couples, and get to share their most intimate moments, and biggest milestones for years after! Gayle and Dan hired me to photograph their engagement and wedding photos, and from the first time I met them, I knew they'd become great friends of mine. At their engagement shoot we shared inappropriate jokes, and laughed till our eyes watered. At their wedding, we did everything we could to make sure Gayle and Dan were worry free, despite little hiccups that arose. We plopped them into our SUV, Gayle even sitting in a booster seat, when their trolly failed to show. We reassured them what the day was really about, and how perfect it really was. They were surrounded by love and family and FUN friends! We really had a blast sharing their day with them. THEN, we got the call that they were expecting, and they wanted us to document their peanut's first year. Such a blessing. I was so excited to do their maternity photos, and as we were shooting, we talked about pregnancy, and parenting, and all the beautiful things that were to come. And then she was here! I met Ryan when she was only a week old, and she had my heart immediately. And now here we are, 8 months old, getting ready to schedule her one year session! I cannot believe how fast time goes, but I'm so thankful that I get to be the one to stop it in photographs for my clients to look back on for years to come. Ryan, you melt my heart. Gayle and Dan, thank you SO much for allowing me to be a part of your lives, and trusting me to document all of these wonderful moments for your family. <3 Family photography is not something that we are typically known for, however we do shoot quite a lot of family sessions. My style for family photography is very natural and I try to document the authentic relationships within each family. I love to watch families play, and move, and be silly. When dad looks at the photo of him kissing his little girl, he can remember her soft cheek, and the sound of her little giggle. When mom is looking at her sweet pea while she laughs at daddy, and she can remember the wind blowing her tiny hairs and how small her feet were as she tickled them... I want to bring my clients back to a memory, back to a time that went way to quickly. I promise, those will be the images you will look at down the road and be thankful for. photography, baby photography, family photography, lemons, child photography, iowa photographer, marion photographer, cedar rapids photographer, monroe and company, lifestyle photographer, marion studio, studio, victorian house, uptown marion

Hey There!Welcome to the place where you remember what it's like to be a child, to imagine, to dream. A place where true love, prince charming and happily ever afters really do exist. Take off your shoes, cuddle up with a cup of coffee and cozy blanket, and let us remind you that life is beautiful. It is kind. It is whimsical. It is delicate, and warm, and sometimes even miraculous. Please forget about the laundry, the dishes, the deadlines. Archives
